Objetivo

Usar sequenciadores em inglês (first, then, after that, before, while, finally) para narrar a reprodução de um bug, descrever a ordem das ações executadas e organizar as etapas em um ticket.

Explicação

Em relatórios de bug e mensagens de suporte, sequenciadores organizam a narrativa no tempo. O bloco mais comum é:

• First (primeiro) — abre a sequência: `First, I opened the ticket.`
• Then (depois, em seguida) — próximo passo: `Then, I checked the logs.`
• After that (depois disso) — passo intermediário com mais ênfase: `After that, I ran the command again.`
• Before (antes) — indica o que aconteceu antes de algo: `Before I restarted the service, I saved the logs.`
• While (enquanto) — duas ações acontecendo ao mesmo tempo: `The page froze while the upload was running.`
• Finally (finalmente) — fecha a sequência: `Finally, I closed the ticket.`

Esses advérbios vêm normalmente no início da frase ou da cláusula, seguidos de vírgula quando iniciam a frase. Em uma reprodução de bug, esse encadeamento mostra exatamente a ordem das ações e ajuda quem vai investigar a repetir o problema.

Em um ticket, a seção Steps to reproduce quase sempre começa com `First` e termina com `Finally`. Frases intermediárias com `then`, `after that` e `before` deixam a sequência clara sem confundir o leitor.

Use `while` para falar do que estava acontecendo quando o erro apareceu, e `before` quando precisar dizer o que fez antes de chegar ao bug. Isso evita ambiguidade entre causa, contexto e ação.

Exemplos

Erros comuns

• Colocar o verbo antes de first/then/finally: `I first opened` está correto, mas a forma mais natural em tickets é `First, I opened`.
• Esquecer a vírgula depois do advérbio no início da frase: escreva `Then, I checked` e não `Then I checked` é errado — a vírgula é recomendada depois de Then também.
• Trocar while por during: `while the upload was running` é diferente de `during the upload` (este é um sintagma nominal, não uma cláusula).
• Usar after sem that quando se quer uma frase completa: `After I logged in` ou `After that, I logged in` — evite `After I logged in, then I clicked` (then duplica a ideia).
• Confundir before com ago: `Before I restarted the service, I saved the logs` indica ordem; `I restarted the service two hours ago` indica tempo decorrido.

Reproducing the upload bug

Last Friday, Lucas opened a ticket in the support portal. First, he read the customer's report and checked the attached screenshot. Then, Lucas opened the staging environment to reproduce the bug. After that, he logged in as a new user, the same way the customer did. He clicked the upload button and waited for the file to load. The browser froze while the file was uploading. After that, a red error message appeared on the screen.

Writing the ticket

Before he closed the test session, Lucas saved the logs from the browser. Then, he wrote the steps to reproduce in the ticket description. After that, he attached the logs and a new screenshot to the ticket. He asked a teammate to review the ticket before he sent it to the support team. Finally, Lucas sent the ticket and notified the on-call engineer. The on-call engineer thanked him and said, "I will investigate the bug first thing in the morning."
