Objetivo

Usar will para decisões espontâneas, promessas e previsões em conversas de trabalho, e distinguir will de going to quando o assunto é uma intenção já planejada.

Explicação

O auxiliar will aparece em três usos muito comuns no ambiente profissional: decisão espontânea, promessa e previsão.

1. Decisão espontânea (no momento da fala). Você decide agora, sem planejar antes:

• *The ticket is critical. I'll take it.*
• *You need help? I'll check the logs.*
• *The build is broken. I'll restart the pipeline.*

A contração I'll (= I will) é a forma mais natural em conversa.

2. Promessa. Você se compromete com algo no futuro:

• *I will send the report by Monday.*
• *I promise I will fix the bug today.*
• *I won't forget to update the ticket.*

3. Previsão (opinião, expectativa, cálculo de tempo). Você diz o que acha que vai acontecer:

• *I think the build will fail without the new key.*
• *It will take two days to finish the migration.*
• *The release will probably finish on time.*
• *It won't work without that permission.*

Forma: depois de will o verbo fica na forma base (`will check`, `will fail`, `will take`). A negativa usa will not ou a contração won't (`It won't work`, `I won't deploy`).

Perguntas: inverta o sujeito e o will: *Will you deploy tonight?*, *What will happen if the test fails?*, *When will the release start?*

Will × going to — a diferença importa no trabalho:

Em resumo: going to = plano ou evidência anterior; will = decisão agora, promessa ou opinião.

Exemplos

Erros comuns

• Misturar will e going to: `I will go to deploy` deve ser `I'm going to deploy` (plano) ou `I'll deploy it now` (decisão agora).
• Colocar o verbo no infinitivo com to depois de will: `It will to take two days` deve ser `It will take two days`.
• Esquecer que won't = will not: `It will not work` e `It won't work` são corretos; `It doesn't will work` não é.
• Usar will para algo decidido antes da fala: trocar *We're going to release on Friday* (plano) por *We will release on Friday* pode soar como se a decisão tivesse sido tomada naquele momento.
• Dizer `I think it will` sem completar a frase. Em inglês padrão, sempre feche a previsão com o verbo principal: `I think it will fail`.

Complete cada situação com will, won't, going to ou I'll.

• *The bug is critical. ___ (take) the ticket.*

Resposta: I'll take the ticket. (decisão no momento)

• *We ___ (release) on Friday. It was already on the calendar.*

Resposta: We're going to release on Friday. (plano prévio)

• *I ___ (send) the report by 5 p.m.*

Resposta: I will send the report by 5 p.m. (promessa)

• *It ___ (work) without the new permission key.*

Resposta: It won't work without the new permission key. (previsão negativa)

Repare que o verbo principal depois de will/won't nunca leva -s, -ed nem to.

Tom paused for a moment, then said, "Okay, I'll take that ticket myself."

"I will finish the fix by tomorrow night. I promise," Tom added. "And I will update the documentation by Thursday," he continued. Anna asked, "What will happen if the new test fails?" "I think the build will fail without the new permission key," Tom answered. "I'll add the key now. It won't take long," he said. The team agreed and said, "We're going to monitor the release all weekend." By Friday morning, the fix was ready, the docs were updated, and the release went smoothly.
