Present continuous para agenda

Objetivo

Usar o present continuous para falar de compromissos já agendados (reuniões, entrevistas, pair programming, deploys) e diferenciá-lo de will e going to.

Explicação

Em inglês, use o present continuous (`subject + am/is/are + verb-ing`) para falar de planos que já estão fixados na agenda — alguém marcou data, hora e participantes. O evento é certo, não é uma intenção vaga nem uma decisão de última hora.

Forma:

• `I am meeting the PM at 3.`
• `She is interviewing a candidate at 10.`
• `We are deploying tomorrow.`
• `They are pairing with Lucas this afternoon.`

Marcadores de tempo comuns: `at 3`, `at 10:30`, `tomorrow`, `tonight`, `this afternoon`, `on Monday`, `next week`. Eles deixam claro que se trata de um compromisso, e não de uma ação em progresso agora.

Quando usar:

• Reuniões já marcadas: `I'm meeting the PM at 3.`
• Entrevistas agendadas: `She's interviewing a candidate on Friday.`
• Pair programming combinado: `We're pairing on the checkout flow at 2.`
• Deploys já planejados: `We're deploying the fix tomorrow morning.`
• Demos e reviews com cliente: `The team is demoing the new dashboard on Thursday.`

Diferenças importantes:

• Present continuous = compromisso fixo: `I'm meeting the PM at 3.` (está no calendário)
• going to = intenção ou plano, mas sem hora marcada: `I'm going to talk to the PM this week.`
• will = decisão de momento, promessa ou previsão: `I'll talk to the PM later.` / `The build will fail if we don't fix it.`

Na fala e em mensagens curtas, é comum omitir o sujeito ou o horário quando o contexto já entrega essa informação: `Pairing with Ana at 2.` / `Deploying tomorrow.`

Exemplos

Erros comuns

• Usar will em vez do present continuous para um compromisso já marcado: `I will meet the PM at 3` perde o sentido de agenda fixa; prefira `I'm meeting the PM at 3`.
• Esquecer o -ing depois de is/are: `She is interview` deve ser `She is interviewing`.
• Trocar present continuous por going to quando o evento tem hora marcada: `I'm going to meet the PM at 3` soa como plano solto; `I'm meeting the PM at 3` indica agenda confirmada.
• Esquecer a contração `I'm`/`We're` na escrita rápida, mas usar a forma longa em fala casual: mantenha `I am meeting` em contextos formais e `I'm meeting` em mensagens e standups.
• Confundir ação em progresso com agenda futura: `I'm meeting with the PM` (agora) e `I'm meeting the PM at 3` (agendado) só se distinguem pelo marcador de tempo.

Repare que o verbo ganha `-ing` e a forma `be + -ing` continua a mesma do presente; a diferença é o marcador de tempo, que torna o significado futuro.

Resumo

Use `subject + am/is/are + verb-ing` para compromissos já agendados. A presença de hora, dia ou marcador de tempo (`at 3`, `tomorrow`, `on Friday`) mostra que o evento é certo, e não uma decisão (will) ou intenção (going to).

The rest of the week

On Wednesday, the team is deploying the hotfix in the morning. On Thursday, they're demoing the new flow to the client at 3. On Friday, Bruno has a 1:1 with his lead and a call with the designer. His week is full, but every event is already on the calendar.
