História: Projeto B2: monólogo argumentativo

Nível: B2

Opening the case

Dr. Maya began a formal case presentation with a clear position. My position is that the patient needs observation rather than immediate discharge. First of all, the HPI showed two days of fever and a new cough.

Evidence and a caveat

The relevant history included a previous admission for asthma. The findings included mild wheeze and a new oxygen requirement. Admittedly, one part of the history was still incomplete.

Impression and plan

That said, the findings supported a cautious impression of a low-risk infection. The plan was observation, repeat assessment, and clear safety-netting. To sum up, the team would review the patient before deciding about discharge.

The team’s question

A colleague asked whether the incomplete history changed the plan. Maya replied, That is a fair question. She said she did not have enough information to say that discharge was safe yet.

Notas de vocabulário

  • HPI — Use HPI for the history of present illness and its timeline.
  • findings — Findings are observations, not the conclusion itself.
  • impression — Impression is the current clinical interpretation.
  • plan — Plan states the next action and review.
  • safety-net — Safety-netting explains warning signs and when to return.
