At that moment, the team was finishing the release notes for version 2.4. Lucas was checking the logs in another tab while the dashboard was still showing errors.

The alert

Suddenly, the alert came in: error rate above 5% on the payment endpoint. Lucas was deploying a small config change when the second page came in. He was running the diagnostic command when the latency spiked again. Two engineers were also reviewing the metrics at the same time.

After the alert

The team was restarting the workers while the cache was warming up. Lucas was reading the new logs when he noticed a small memory leak. He was writing a quick summary while the service was still restarting. By 4:30 p.m., the error rate was dropping and the team was already writing a status update.
