The problem
While the team was dealing with choosing a safer deployment, Riley had been working on the Signal release for several weeks when a customer test exposed a difficult point. The team had already reviewed the expressions “I think” and “I agree”, but the new evidence suggested that the problem was not as simple as it first appeared.
Instead of guessing, Riley asked what the team knew, what it still needed to check, and how the term “alternative” might affect the next step. Avery offered a different view, so Riley paraphrased it before explaining the risk connected to the term “zero conditional”.
The team chose a limited test rather than a complete change. Riley said that this would not remove every uncertainty, but it would give them a clearer basis for action. The group wrote “may” in the update so nobody would mistake a plan for a promise.
