At the first meeting
Ana is at the community center in the morning. She says hello to Lia and says, “My name is Ana.” She also repeats “hi” when Lia asks a friendly question. She is from Brazil, and she lives in Recife.

A clear message
At a small table, she practices “spell” and “hello” with a notebook. She asks about “am” and checks “are”, while Lia gives a clear example with “he” and “she”.
Before going home
Before she leaves, Lia writes a short message with “book”, “letter”, and “apple”. The sound is not clear, so Ana asks, “Can you repeat that, please?” Then they smile, say goodbye, and go home.
