At the first meeting
Dora is at the neighborhood cafe in the morning. She says hello to Noah and says, “My name is Dora.” She also repeats “house” when Noah asks a friendly question. She is from Brazil, and she lives in Fortaleza.
At a small table, she practices “what” and “apartment” with a notebook. She asks about “how much” and checks “expensive”, while Noah gives a clear example with “free” and “busy”.
Practicing together
Before she leaves, Noah writes a short message with “routine”, “where”, and “direction”. The sound is not clear, so Dora asks, “Can you repeat that, please?” Then they smile, say goodbye, and go home.
At lunch, Dora shows Noah the same message again. They point to “house” and “expensive”, read the words slowly, and check each other’s answer.
A small routine
In the afternoon, Dora uses “busy” and “direction” in a short conversation. It is not perfect, but the two friends understand each other and feel ready for tomorrow.
