A crowded community center

The community center was planning a weekend food festival. It appeared that the event would attract more visitors than the small hall could hold. The organizers had counted the registrations, but some people had not confirmed their attendance. One concern might be that the entrance would become unsafe in the afternoon.

Different points of view

From my perspective, moving the children’s activities outside would solve part of the problem. I tend to think that families would prefer a little more space, even if the weather changed. A potential drawback is that older visitors might find the outdoor path difficult. That's a fair concern, said Marta, but perhaps we could provide chairs near both entrances.

A careful compromise

It seems reasonable to move only the music and food stalls outside. It might be worth asking the volunteer group to guide visitors between the spaces. I would argue that this compromise is fair because everyone keeps part of the original plan. The organizers checked that they were on the same page before announcing the change.

A result nobody predicted

It is likely that the festival will need a larger hall next year. Nevertheless, the compromise worked well enough for the families who came. Perhaps we could keep the outdoor plan for future events, one organizer suggested.
