História: Escrever um ensaio ou carta pública

Nível: C2

A letter about the theater

Mara wrote a public letter after the council announced that the neighborhood theater might close. Her thesis statement was that the theater should receive support because it gave local artists a shared stage. She used attendance records and interviews with young performers as supporting evidence.

A fair counterargument

Mara acknowledged that the building needed expensive repairs and that the council had other responsibilities. However, she argued that closing the theater permanently would erase a cultural space that could not easily be rebuilt. Her recommendation was a three-month pilot with clear repair and attendance reviews.

The public request

The letter ended with a call to action: residents should attend the hearing and ask for the pilot. Mara did not claim that the theater mattered to every person in exactly the same way. She made a defensible case and invited readers to decide after seeing the evidence.

Notas de vocabulário
