At the first meeting
Helena is at the town hall in the morning. She says hello to Davi and says, “My name is Helena.” She also repeats “work” when Davi asks a friendly question. She is from Brazil, and she lives in Belém.
At a small table, she practices “book” and “live” with a notebook. She asks about “family” and checks “friend”, while Davi gives a clear example with “what” and “where”.
Practicing together
Before she leaves, Davi writes a short message with “conversation”, “apple”, and “start”. The sound is not clear, so Helena asks, “Can you repeat that, please?” Then they smile, say goodbye, and go home.
At lunch, Helena shows Davi the same message again. They point to “work” and “friend”, read the words slowly, and check each other’s answer.
A small routine
In the afternoon, Helena uses “where” and “start” in a short conversation. It is not perfect, but the two friends understand each other and feel ready for tomorrow.
When the day ends, Helena writes her name and email one more time. She keeps the notebook in her bag because she wants to practice again at the next meeting.
